The top on the Empire State building was lit up in green on St. Patty's Day. Cool drizzled-tar street art outside the Nespresso shop. Ran across this while out shopping shortly after arriving in NYC. This is where the legendary CBGBs used to be on Bowery. Now a John Varvatos store, there is a jacket here I loved, but would have to live in my car for a year to afford. John and Nancy walking into DBGB Restaurant on Bowery. Our menu included Diver Scallops, steak tartare, tripe, bone marrow and imported beers customized to our personal tastes. Yum! Crowded Times Square outside the Palace Theater, where I saw Priscilla Queen of the Desert. A still from Priscilla Queen of the Desert the Musical. I got to see the second to last preview before opening night. One of the funniest shows I've ever seen. Highly Recommended! Peels Cafe - a really cute breakfast joint on Bowery that looks like a white-washed country house on the inside. John and Nancy like it so much they went three times. This is the building on Broadway, between Houston and Bleecker, where I went to a yoga class at Strala yoga, an attitude-free yoga place started by former model Tara Stiles. 7A Cafe on 7th and Avenue A - Recommended by a friend, I had a delicious Lobster salad sandwich on pumpernickel with happy hour White Sangria. This is the private loft where we got to see many of the amazing new frames we'll soon have from Anne et Valentin, Kirk Originals, Bevel, Francis Klein, and Theo Eyewear. This is the 'SuperMoon' as they were calling it, from the roof-top party we went to in the Meat Packing District. Amazing views of the city all around! A belly dancer from the roof-top party. She balanced that sword on her head and danced around. I stayed off the red carpet (my luck is I would slip, trip and fall.) Many of our eyeglasses were seen as well. I saw Kirk Originals, Rapp Limited, Francis Klein and Lindberg, all on people dressed to the nines for the awards show. The room was filled with tons of local celebrities, and celebrity watchers. I hope to see the pics in the local magazines!

Lyle and I went, prompted by his friends James Rocco and Jeff Scott, and we had free tickets (LOL). I’m glad I dressed up, because Lyle Jackson and his business partner Ellen Roeder of  TULLE and DYE received the first award of the evening. The costumes they designed for the Ordway’s  Beauty and the Beast were ‘beautiful’, ‘dazzling’, ‘amazing’. My personal favorite from the show was the cheese grater they designed and built. We were both surprised, shocked, and very happy.

Ok, y’all…the weather has been drab as the summer winds down and we head into the fall/winter seasons. It’s time to brighten things up a bit. Have you been spotted at Specs Optical?  As you can see Kelly was spotted.

On June 28th you may have spotted Rama, of RAMASSIA in our shop.  Ramassia is one of our distributors. Rama and his wife Assia, help us keep Kirk Originals, Theo and Anne et Valentin on our shelves.  Rama is the son of Anne and Valentin.  He took time out of his busy schedule to visit and show us some of the goods he reps.  We were treated to a terrific dinner at La Chaya Bistro.

Maybe you spotted Renee Kraft, Tracy Terbell, Matt Braun, Bonnie Breeding, the Queen of England, Salvador Dali, or did you spot Elvis?  You just never know who you will spot.

Shouldn’t you be spotted? Maybe in sunglasses by Tim Van Steenbergen, maybe a new Kirk Originals. Really, shouldn’t you be spotted in something by Specs Optical.

In the picture I am wearing my new (still on its way) Kirk Original glasses.  O.k.  Did you notice the amazing shirt I am wearing….oh yea….it is a gift from Jason Kirk, and it is a hand made shirt by Kirk Originals.

Kirk Originals ‘ROCK’, and Jason isn’t half bad.
